Price on Request Chinese rare Sancai glazed pottery figure of a standing horse. The saddle pad is glazed with four colors including a rare blue. The saddle itself is covered with a vermillion slip and naturalistically modeled with sweeping folds of fabric. Most exquisite is the graceful arching of the horses neck, the slight turn of the perfectly proportioned head, and one whimsically turned back ear. With TL test papers.

From a group of varied tablet sizes that were excavated, most likely from the foundations of an ancient Buddhist temple, placed there to ensure success and prosperity. Condition very good. Price on Request Terracotta horse from the Wei period. The clay is gray. It is of very good quality. There are traces of red polychromy and there is still gilding on the rump. This gilding is composed of thick gold leaves that we call in French goldsmith's trade a "feuillard" it's thicker than the classic leaf to gild the furniture. In the past, I read somewhere that gilding was only applied on Wei or Tang terracotta on princely tombs. (To be verified)...

Standing with a long spade and a handleless shovel in his hands, he tilts his head slightly upward as if surveying his crops or checking the weather. He is dressed in boots and a hat and his robe is secured around his waist with a belt from which hangs another tool or knife. Sculpted with the simplified geometric proportions traditional during the Han period but unusually large in scale...
