A choice pair of decorative pottery figures of House Attendants, dating to Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644.

The figures are dressed in dark blue and turquoise robes and carry high hats on their heads. They both appear to be carriers of their masters carriage. They are placed on square plints. Heads and boots with pigmented colors.

Height: c. 22-23 cm.

Condition: A superb pair of pottery figures with wear for age and type.

Done by top-quality marble stone, a great Buddha’s head was well carved.
A typical piece of the early to mid-Tang periods, the marble head was well carved by the hands of the excellent craftsman.
The religious piece was well depicted in details: on top, the spiral ushnisa and the features of the face –the full cheek, almond eyelids and well-defined lips, all were meticulously rendered by affluent and sleek carving skills...

Description: A magnificent stone head of Louhan( or Lokapala ) was from 13th century. Unearthed from a relics of a temple near Shichuan, this head piece was preserved very well with original red mineral pigment and gold leaf. In an awesome facial expression, the Budhist saint was rendered finely in the features and showing a strong form that was unusually seen in the Chinese traditional sculptures. A wonderful matching pair of Chinese pottery figures of male and female attendants. The figures date to Ming Dynasty 1368-1644 AD.

They are both dressed in robes glazed matching torqouise and dark blue colors. They are placed on plints and each carry a box in front of the chest. He wewars a black hat, and shea has an artfully styled hairdress. The heads are attachable.

Facial details were made with fragile pigment colors of which some remains.

A rare and splendid genuine Ming Dynasty Tomb Pottery Horse bending it's head down with a seated musician playing the cymbals. This is one of the earliest Ming pieces, ca. 1400 A.D., depicting a beautiful and elegant horse with fine modeling. The horse's neck is arched and it's mane and tail are glazed in a rare and vibrant turquoise color. The musician's head is removable and his robe is painted in rich cobalt blue, red and turquoise pigments...

A unusually elaborate pair of pottery figures of female Attendants, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD.), dating to late Ming period c. 1550-1650 AD.



The ladies are dressed large thick robes, with imposing hairdresses. One is wearing af fan, the other is wearing purse in front of her chest. Both are standing on round plints. They are glazed in torqouise and dark blue colours.
