An exceptional Antique PATTANI THAI KRIS,19th Century, with fine waving steel blade, a carved wooden king fisher bird's head handle and golden metal button at the bottom of the handle. An original wooden sheath, total length 21". Good condition overall.

rare antique large Thai “parang”, used to cut and split rattan and bamboo etc. to create everything from baskets, village house walls to fish traps. The handle is made of old, and nowadays rare, Thai Rosewood: Dalbergia cochinchinensis. The the hand forged blade still has a usable sharp cutting. There are a couple of splitsin the handle which is secured by a metal band, please see enlargements. L: 64cm/25.2in.

One of a kind, rare ceremonial rice cutter from the Karen people (this particular one is from Northern Thailand). This knife would only be used on the first cutting of the season and as with most all of the rice cultivators in Asia there is a great deal of ritual and importance given to this act, regardless of the religion i.e. Buddhist, animist, Hindu etc. The handle has a wonderful original patina and the blade is till quite sharp.Circa 60 to 100 years old...

Polished shouldered stone axe from the late Neolithic Period, found in Nan Province Thailand near the Lao Border. A few nicks and chips. Please note reference in last enlargement from Burnished Beauty: The Art of Stone in Early Southeast Asia. L: 6.8cm/2.7in and base W: 5.4cm/2.1in.

Good polished stone adzes from the late Neolithic, Tham Hua Phu Culture (100 BCE-100 CE) located along Mekong River near Luang Prabang, Laos. This is a firm attribution as I purchased these direct from local villagers near the site. See enlargements for condition .The biggest one is 13.5cm/5.2in and the smallest one is 8cm/3.1in.

Good bamboo handled knife from the Karen ethnic group Northern Thai/Burma border. Fine example of village craftsmanship, all these parts were handmade, even the blades. The bamboo handle is classic and fits comfortably in the hand. Total length 31cm/12in with sharp edge- small nick at the tip off the blade which could be honed out, about 60 years old.

Antique Philippine barong sword with carved wooden handle and inlaid scabbard. The single sided leaf-shaped blade is attached to a hardwood handle with silver and natural fibers. The scabbard (taguban) is carved of wood, wrapped with rattan and has shell inlay in elaborate Islamic filigree. From the predominately Islamic Sulu Islands of Southern Philippines.

Fine old rattan/bamboo splitting knife used in basket making. This has a great natural patina on the handle with decorated “butt”, circa first half 20th century. The blade still carries a sharp edge and is still quite serviceable. L: 44cm/17.2in (blade is 11cm/4.2cm). Excellent condition.

Large vintage “bush knife” from Lanna Thailand, this is an all purpose tool with a thick spine and very sharp edge- quite heavy as well. The blade is fixed with a steel collar and woven rattan and comes with a bamboo basket type sheath. Total L: 54cm/22.2in (blade L: 29cm/11.5in and handle L: 25cm/10.5in). This is an artisanal village made piece and not mass produced.

A kartika referred to in Tibetan as a "trigug" or "drigug" is a small crescent-shaped handheld ritual flaying knife, used in the tantric ceremonies of Vajrayana Buddhism. The kartika is said to be one of the quintessential attributes of the wrathful tantric deities. It is commonly known as the "knife of the dakinis"...
