Japanese shin hanga woodblock print by Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) titled "Irozaki Morning" dated in the left margin Showa 36 (1961). The artists's black ink signature and red seal are at the lower right corner. The print is pencil-signed and titled in English in the lower margin. Paper size: nearly 11" x 15" (image: 9 9/16" x 13 3/16"). Never framed and in very good overall condition. The paper is slightly wavy.

A woodblock print on washi with 29 ways of wearing tenugui which is the Japanese hand towel made of cotton. It has been using as hand towel as well as hat or scarf. In good condition except for a break in one of the corners. Printed by "Isetatsu which was founded in 1864, very late Edo period in kanda in Tokyo. The second half of the 19th century." 25cm x 37.5cm

Japanese antique wood block print of the sumo wrestler, Unryū Kyūkichi (Unryū Hisakichi) with beard and wearing a keshō-mawashi (ceremonial apron-style belt). Unryū Kyūkichi was in the makuuchi league since 1852. Name used from 1850-1865. He retired in 1865. Signed by Kōchōrō Toyokuni ga and date seal between 1851-1853. Framed print.

Japanese antique wood block print of the sumo wrestler, Tsuneyama Gorojin wearing keshō-mawashi (ceremonial apron-style belt). Gorojin was in the Makuuchi league since 1843. Name used from 1842-1856. He retired in 1859. Print by Kuniyoshi Utagawa and dated 1852 (year of the Rat) or 1853 (year of the Ox). Framed print.

Japanese chuban format shin hanga woodblock print by Takahashi Shotei, also known as Hiroaki (1871 - 1945) depicting two figures walking in the snow in the foreground, one holding a parasol walking toward a hut, the second crossing a bridge over a stream. A snow laden tree and torii gate are at the left. Titled "Snow at Ozawa; Torii Gate and a Cottage," the print was published by Watanabe prior to 1930. The title and artist's red Shotei seal are at the upper left...

Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled “Santa Fe” by Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) dated 1971. The print is titled and dated in Japanese in the left margin. The artist’s block signature and English title are in the bottom margin. This image was printed posthumously by the Yoshida family from the original blocks. On the back in the lower corner is written in Japanese “later printing by Komatsu Heihachi.” Paper: 14 1/2” x 21 1/2" (image: 11 3/4" x 19 1/2")...

Early edition Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled "Boats at Shinagawa, Night" (aka “Shinagawa Coast”) from the series “Tokyo Views” (Tokyo Fukei) by Tsuchiya Koitsu (1870-1949) dated in the right margin "5th month of Showa 10" (1935). The black ink signature and red seal of the artist are at the lower right. The seals of the publisher Doi Sadaichi (used 1933-1945), carver Ikeda, and printer Matsushita are in the lower left margin...

Two prints placed under glass, representing two young women, one feeding her little pet, a rat and the other practicing Ikebana, composing a bouquet of irises which will be presented in the vase placed next to her. The hairstyle is typical of women drawn by Suzuki Harunobu, but also by other artists of this period. As it would seem that the Chinese characters simply describe the scenes represented and not the name of the artist, only specialists will be able to know who it is...
