EUR €750 A cloisonné vase on a deep dark blue ground, decorated with a crane depicted along the banks of a watercourse. The decoration is executed in polychrome enamels, delineated by fine silver wires.
Period: Meiji period, late 19th century

Condition: Excellent condition. Minor enamel marks are present on the neck.

$425.00 A traditional metal slit gong used in Shinto and Buddhist rituals. It is named "crocodile mouth" due to the wide slit on its underside. Worshippers shake a rope in front of it to sound the gong, which attracts the attention of deities. The sound symbolizes purification and the start of sacred rites. This specific piece has detailed silver-inlaid decorations, including dragons and clouds. Makes beautiful sounds when struck.

Sold Japanese Shibayama and filigree silver tray dating back to the Meiji period (1890-1912). The central panel is decorated using the Shibayama technique, which involves inlaying finely carved pieces of materials such as mother-of-pearl, bone, and various stones onto a lacquered surface. The inlay depicts birds on a blooming tree branch. The back is decorated with lacquer.
Signed in a silver reserve.

On the neck of the vase is applied the golden monda in the shape of a chrysanthemum, symbol of the imperial family.

Antique Japanese silver over nickel gunbai 軍配 war fan. A type of signal baton and Japanese war fan. Once held by military leaders (such as daimyō) and priests in the past, it is used in the modern day by umpires in sumo wrestling.
Gunbai, from the Sino-Japanese roots meaning "military-apportioned [fan]", were a specialized form of fan used by samurai officers in Japan to communicate commands to their troops... Japanese antique broach in the form of an old man, Okina performance mask. The pin is made of bronze and silver mixed metal with details in red lacquer. Backed in silver with a silver mark and pin. The mask that this broach is modeled after would have been worn by kyōgen dancers in between Noh theatre acts. Signed: Akimitsu.
