Japanese totai cloisonne on porcelain lidded tea jar, or cha-ire, decorated with colorful butterflies, flowers, and leafy vines set against a black background. Circa 1870s. 5 3/8" high. "Totai," was a short-lived experiment of applying cloisonne onto ceramic objects rather than onto a metal substrate. Production ceased in the 1870s because the enamels tended to crack and so many pieces did not survive the production process. Very good overall condition. From a Tucson, Arizona collection.

The is a beautiful rare Japanese antique. Amazingly, this Plique a Jour vase has no damage and that make it even more unique. It stands 6 inches tall, and is about 6 1/2 inches wide. The rims are silver and unmarked.

A well made Japanese cloisonné vase. The alternating dragon and phoenix chevron panels symbolize harmony and balance. Areas of flower, vine and pendant decoration. Lots of engaging, balanced color. Sparkling goldstone embellishment technique demonstrated in dark green background on the shoulder. Some interesting areas of mottled color enamel details. Meiji era (1868 - 1912). This is a beautiful rare, wire and wireless vase from Ando. Gonda was probably the artist. It's a big vase standing 30 inches tall. Has beautiful enameling with delicate tonal changes that do not show up well in the images. The vase is in very good condition overall, but does have an excellent fill, an bit bigger than a thumbnail on the back side. See last image.

Japanese Showa period cloisonne enamel vase decorated with two prominent cattleya orchids set against a pale yellow wireless ground. The counter enamel at the interior mouth and base is pale yellow and in the interior of the vase is purplish brown. Chrome rims. No mark but likely produced by the Ando Cloisonne Company. 9 3/4" high x about 6" diameter at the shoulder. Very heavy for its size. Circa 1945-1960s. Very good overall condition.

Antique Japanese cloisonne vase with butterflies and peony flowers. The flowers are light pink and white and they appear to be bending in a light breeze. Butterflies of various colors on a peach color ground. The narrow neck of the vase is decorated with a pattern of scrolling vines on a deep red ground.
