The surrounding area has large scholar rocks and plants with ruyi motifs, a platform with a picture of waves hung against the wall. The front and backside may be viewed through the framing, which has edges carved like bamboo with gold finish...

A pair of bats and a pair of butterflies fly around a censer at the left that is emitting fumes. At the center of the stand, a central vase is filled with blossoming flowers while a vessel behind it contains fruit. A vessel at the right holds a variety of objects...

Chinese late Qing dynasty red silk temple hanging or altar frontispiece embroidered in metallic-couched and polychrome silk threads. A horizontal panel across the top holds seven figures standing among foliage. The lower section is embroidered with two phoenix birds among leafy flowers. Chinese framed rank badge (civil official 9th rank), decorated with a paradise flycatcher, applied all over with gilt wrapped thread in scrolling motifs. The bird stands on a rock with lingzhi mushrooms, floral scrolls, leaping carp, the rising sun, a flying bat, and bordered by auspicious characters and lucky bats. Meant to be worn on the back of a man's robe.

A rare pair Chinese chair strips with the typical four register design, showing bamboo, lingzhi fungus and scholar rocks. The ground fabric is a steel blue silk with black silk embroidery in satin stitch and little Peking knot. Trimmed with gold-wrapped thread border, cotton lining.
