The bird has perched on a flowering branch and is watching the nuptial flight of a pair of butterflies. Watercolor on silk. Chinese painting from the Republican period or earlier, but could be Japanese from the Meiji-Taisho period. In the lower right corner, the mark of a red seal was discreetly imprinted. Identifying the painter through this mark would allow for a definitive determination. Painting only: 76 x 38 cm. Mounted on cardboard and framed in silk. Good condition, no restoration.
