The board was cut from a very hard precious wood that does not lend itself at all to twisting unlike the woods used in Europe in 1900 for the construction of mass-produced furniture...

$325.00 Beautiful old elmwood Chinese headrest of classical form with two broad legs and a slightly curved upper platform, all made from one piece of wood. Good varied patina of age and use. A very decorative and minimalist object. Excellent condition, measures 13.75ʺ wide × 5.75ʺ deep × 4.5ʺ high.
Chinese altar also used as console or side table. Made of exotic hard wood, probably
zitan, with a dark patina. It features voluptuous flared edges and spandrels carved in
cloud motives. The console stands on four feet also carved with Chinese cloud motive;
they are joined by two pairs of lateral bars.

Age: 1920's Dimensions: 19 3/4" square x 4 3/4" high Large Chinese round form hardwood stand, the top with foliated edge, carved curved apron, and five cabriole legs standing on a stretcher. Republic period (early 20th century). 11” diameter x 8 1/2" high. The stand is very sturdy but does have some small, scattered separations in the wood. One leg has a narrow split but appears stable. From a Sun City, Arizona collection.
