Charming Cizhou style ceramic pillow as a cat, circa late Qing to Republic period in perfect condtion! Great expression- captures the way a cat can gaze so intently at something while appearing calm- as if it is about to pounce on an unsuspecting prey. Green lead glazed oil lamp or candle stand from the Han Dynasty. In excellent condition with no damage, there are still traces of the classic silver patina as may be seen in enlargements. H: 13.5cm/5.3in and D: 10.5cm/4.2in.

Chinese teakwood tabletop display stand. Each of the four tiers for holding objects has carved frieze decoration. 18” wide x 15” high x 5 1/4" deep. 20th century. Very good overall condition. Antique Chinese small cabinet with six open shelves originally intended for displaying small precious artworks. There are two small drawers between the upper and lower shelves. The bottom portion of the chest has two cabinet compartments opened by hinged doors. The entire surface of the wooden cabinet is lacquered and detailed with vine and floral motifs.

An example of Taiwan country furniture, this Chinese antique wood trunk sits on a custom-made stand and is finely decorated in panels of black ink painted flowers. It was purchased in Peitou, Taiwan in 1987. It was refinished at that time and the custom stand was made for it. The dealer in Taiwan dated the trunk to circa 1920 and described the wood as machilus. When the lid is opened, the interior is very fragrant. On the stand, the trunk measures 15” high x 25” long x 17” deep...

Antique hardwood tray for serving betel or opium paraphenalia, with metal-banded corners (paktong) and finely inlaid in mother-of-pearl, the sides and skirt with scenes of figures in landscapes and other motifs. An antique Chinese scholar's stand made of natural gnarled twisted hardwood roots with a transparent russet lacquer. This type of natural root furniture goes back to the 12th century aesthetic. Here is an example of the round stand produced during the Republic Period, bearing the colonial form true to the Victorian Era.
