An intricately hand carved Chinese zitan or similar dark hardwood lid for a jar. There is an insurance number written on the inside of the lid, see last photo. In excellent condition, it measures approximately 2 inches (5.1 cm) high, 3"(7.6 cm) across at base, opening about 1.75" (4.4 cm). Dates 1800s

Chinese Qing dynasty ornately carved rootwood fly-whisk handle. Fly-whisks were carried by Buddhist priests to wave away flies which, according to Buddhist tenets, they could not kill. The fly-whisk is also a symbol of leadership. 19th century. 10 3/8" long. Very good overall condition with a nice patina. There are a few thin cracks visible in the enlargements. This piece is from the private collection of American expatriates who lived in Hong Kong in the 1970s and 1980s...

Antique Chinese Ming Dynasty, 1368-1644, wooden figure. The figure is wearing a red robe with gold leaf. The robe is patterned with clouds and dragons. The face retains the facial hair. The back has a carved rectangular opening where the figure would have held sacred texts, imbuing to it a spiritual life. It measures 26" tall. Lacquered pedestal base is included to hold the figure upright.

A very rare carved wooden Buddha dating back to the 15th century or before. Size: H. 26.5cm. Condition: Natural ageing. The right hand is missing and a portion of the base has worn away.

The Kwan Yin is holding a wish granting pearl and a ruyi scepter; both represent the powers of Kwan Yin who is thought to grant wishes and aid sentient beings. A small hardwood carving of lotus leaves with small frogs and fish set between the curled and the underside sections of the leaves. The frogs and the seeds found in the pod of the lotus flower can slightly move, giving the piece more action and life. Age: 19th-20th century Size: Height: 1.5" Width: 2.8" Length: 3.5"

A very unique architectural element showing a warrior on a mythical beast. These were used as adornments to beautify the home as well as to tell a story. This well carved piece of Chinese history dates to the late 19th century and is considered in excellent unrestored condition. The painting of various colors adds luster to this hard to find antique. There is damage to the backside, but does not detract from the overall beauty. It measures 10.5" long, 8" high. just under 4" inches deep.
