Baby's yogi which is one kind of bed cloth, a top cover in the shape of kimono. It has cotton cloth with katazome (stencil-resist-dye) for outside and indigo cotton for the lining. It has thick cotton inside for warmth and was used in the cold district or in winter. It is from Fukushima prefecture in Tohoku district. A quintessential work showing the decorative aesthetic of Ichino Masahiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Senmonki (Lined Vessel). The square opening, thin and delicate, reminds me of the architectural grace of Ando Tadao. An unusual 18th century Japanese porcelain dish with chidori and waves drawn in thick outline, the centre with a Tibetan Buddhist symbol. The V & A Museum, London, has an identical dish, FE.113-2006. Arita1770-1780.

A Japanese porcelain plate decorated with a dignitary beneath a parasol, attended by his servant, in a garden. The cavetto is unusually decorated with a continuous landscape, a device not often encountered on Arita porcelain. The use of linear shading is reminiscent of Chinese “Master of the Rocks” style. Arita, circa 1680~1700.

The back is entirely plain with four spur marks within the foot-rim.

This is the Katazome cotton festival costume used in Edo during the Edo period. It is dyed with natural indigo. Cotton is hand-spun and thick. It has a few repair marks, but it doesn't stand out.
