This is a great example of Japanese Satsuma artistry. This bowl was made and signed by Hankinzan. The bowl measures 5 inches across. It is an exceptional piece with extremely fine work. There are hundreds of detailed birds all with overglaze enamels. I also believe it was made with the thicker mercury fired gold. While this bowl looks nearly perfect, it has about a 1 inch line that goes part way down one side that is very hard to see without magnification. May also have a tiny fill or factory re...

It is partially signed on the bottom and minutely signed in a banner held by one of the children. This signature looks like it could be either Yabu Meizan...
