Lovely antique Japanese large rectangular tray with a scene of a woman gazing at the moon (inlaid mother of pearl), she is sitting near a small stream with flowers and grasses, misty clouds above, the tray is made of kiri wood and the decoration is made of beautiful cherry wood bark, outer sides are also covered in cherry bark, Taisho Period. From our Japanese Collection, a truly superb satsuma vase, Meiji period (1868-1912), of robust globular form, depicting seven separate circular reserves of figures set against a most unusual and very appealing variegated ground that morphs from emerald green, to celadon, to cream, and finally to brown, all heavily overlaid with a rich brocade of chrysanthemum heads and other floral and geometric motifs executed in gilt. The neck has a heavily gilded deep red ground which sets it off very nicely...

By a very fine condition, the bronze deity was reserved with the original patina of the painted gold leaf and the enduring old and darken bronze sheen.
Sitting on the legendary holy beast- Hong, the Guanyin was in a easy-posture with one leg resting on the back of the animal and with another leg stepping on the lotus pedestal.
