Antique Chinese pair of square hardwood tables. Each table is inset with a large square porcelain panel which sits into the top and is removable. The panels are glazed with scrolling vines and flowers with bats in the corners on a greenish blue ground. Each table has a solid shelf and swirling aprons.

Sculptured black pines rise from the misty forest floor, yellow sky fading beyond; a brilliant modernist rendition of this traditional theme by Yamauchi Issei (b. 1929). An unusual Japanese Satsuma koro in the form of a barrel, the body decorated with symbols of good fortune & longevity, the white metal lid, pierced and engraved with a bird in flight amongst flora, the base with artist signature with Shimizu mon and seal.

Approximately 14cm high x 11cm wide. Fine condition with only some minuscule wear to the gold enamel on the top surface to report.

Antique Japanese kannon biraki tansu of an unusual small size, made of Kiri (paulownia) wood. The front of the chest is covered in ornate iron hardware with studs. The central lock is a motif of Kiri leaves with two door pulls. The doors open to a shelved interior space with two exterior drawers below. All original condition.
