Kiyomizu Rokubei Teacup Set of 11 cups for green tea.

The teaset refers to Chinese longevity teacups called Wan Shou Wu Jiang (万寿无疆 in simplified Chinese) where the character 壽 (kotobuki in Japanese or shou in Chinese) means Long Life and character 福 (fu) means Good Fortune or Blessing.

The Rokubei family is one of the most influential pottery clan from Kyoto leaded by 8th generation now with over 240 years of history.

A set of nesting bowls in the highly sought Taireiji style by Kiyomizu Rokubei V decorated with wild chrysanthemum in white on soft pink. Each bears an unusual six sided stamp reading Yunen. Undeniably Taireiji was the most important development by this innovative artist, and pieces are exceedingly rare. The larger bowl is 21.5 cm (8-1/2 inches) diameter10 cm (4 inches) tall and both are in excellent condition. They come in a later box annotated by the 6th Rokubei.

A delicate white flower blossoms on the pink surface of this exquisite vessel by Kiyomizu Rokubei V which comes wrapped in the original stamped cloth sack and enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Taireiji Kabin. The vase is 22.5 cm (9 inches) tall and in excellent condition. Taireiji was the most important development by this innovative artist, and pieces are exceedingly rare.

Wan shaped tea bowl made of fine, unrefined clay with a small content of iron oxide. The clay shows few impurities and stones. The inside has been stamped with flower patterns (hanamishima) between circular lines both were filled with a fine, white engobe before a transparent ash glaze haze was applied. The bowl has a beautiful shape and is well balanced and has been used for many years as the stain inside and around the rim indicates.
