A heavily potted porcelain jar, made in two horizontal parts, with an underglaze blue floral decoration. South Chinese work from the 16th/17th century. H. 21 cm, D. 19 cm. Condition: very good, no damage or repairs, the glaze is a bit dull and has craquelé because this jar was excavated and spent 4 centuries under the soil. Provenance: in my private collection since I found this jar in Beijing in the late 90’s.

Distorted shoe shaped (kutsugata)tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay.

Shape and style (note the trimmed walls and the flaring mouth) make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls.

This vase is of a fine, stately hexagonal shape, molded with archaic kuilong designs reminiscent of ancient Chinese bronze work. The celadon glaze is delicate in its greenish-blue shade, and quite thick. The paste is also quite good for 19th century.

A fine Chinese scholar's agate brusher washer with many of the stems and leaves worked away from the vessel in an open worked manner. The stone is a translucent light grey to almost clear color with the stems and leaves having light russet colors terminating in the leaves to an orange hue. Early 1900s turquoise snuff bottle with a landscape scene having carved openwork and just loads of things going on. A very fine colored turquoise with a wonderful surface polish. It is presented on an equally fine earlier zitan, or similar, wood stand. Both are in excellent condition. A Chinese porcelain vase profusely decorated with famille rose enamels. This item was made for export during the second half of the 19th century, possibly during the reign of the Tongzhi emperor (1862-1874). There is a shallow ground under rim chip (please view enlargement 7) and there is wear to the gilding on the stylized gilded chilong dragons around the neck; no cracks and no restoration. 15cm (5.9inches) high.
