Japanese solid Keyaki isho tansu from the Sendai region. With original deep red lacquer finish. The interior of the drawers done in black lacquer. With black iron hardware incised with floral motifs, large lock plates with chrysanthemums and open work scrolling leaves, the small corner safe door adorned with a round open work iron plate with peonies and scrolling leaves, opening to two small interior drawers for precious keepsakes.

Antique Sino-Tibetan repousse hanging censer with iron chain. The hexagonal shaped body has the repeating image of a coiling serpentine dragon with lingzhi clouds of smoke, with inlaid turquoise on each side and touches of gold gilt. The base of the censer with a pomegranate form finial, the top of the censer with a finial in the shape of a fierce deity's head.

The carved overlay glass snuff bottle is an early 20th century product. The red over clear glass snuff bottle is 2 ¾” high, 1 5/8” wide and 3/4” thick. Both sides have the same design which depicts a blossom tree. It has a light carnelian cap which is a later replacement. It is in great condition.

Japanese bronze incenser in the form of Hotei, one of the Seven Lucky Gods of Fortune. Hotei is clothed with open robes, holding a gunbai fan, seated on top of his large sack. Hotei's name literally means "Cloth Sack", for he can be attributed by the large cloth sack he carries with him during his travels. He is also known as the Laughing Buddha due to his carefree happy nature despite being a wanderer with few material possessions.

Antique framed Balinese kampuh songket, a men's ceremonial wrapper cloth, handmade with supplementary weft silk, cotton, gold and silver thread. The red ground cloth with gold and silver thread motifs of pairs of robed standing figures wielding staffs with butterflies, and fierce heads above with gaping mouths, full of sharp teeth and long tongues. The edges are bordered in zig zag patterns, geometric scrolls, and woven script in gold and silver thread.

The Hannya (般若) mask in Noh theater represents a jealous female demon. She possesses two sharp bull-like horns, metallic gold eyes, and a leering mouth with jagged teeth. The mask is all hand-carved with open eyes, nostrils, and mouth so the Noh performer can see, breathe, and speak. There are also two pierced holes at the temples to be secured against the head with cord. Chinese pair of monochrome porcelain vases with a speckled raspberry glaze. They are of an elegant, elongated tapering form, the bases of each vase marked with Hongxian red seal. In the year 1916, Yuan Shikai attempted to reinstate monarchy by naming himself the Emperor of China after the Qing Dynasty was overthrown in 1911. Due to extreme backlash, his reign lasted for less than 100 days, ending on March 1916.

Antique Japanese single section mizuya (kichten chest). Made of hinoki (Japanese cypress) wood frame with Sugi (cedar) sides. The upper section have two pairs of sliding panels. The top panels are all wood while the lower panels have inset frosted glass. The bottom section of the chest has two large sliding panels with decorative cut outs . There are fourteen drawers of varying size surrounding the larger compartment of the bottom piece, opened by iron pulls.

A young girl reaches up to steady herself on a branch laden with plum buds, not yet ready to open, as she presses down on the ice with her bright red shoes. This is an absolutely darling image by Chishima Kayo, which came to us as a silk makuri (never having been mounted) painting, which our restorer placed in this natural field allowing the painting to show itself.
