The neck rim is covered in a rich, thick flambé glaze that runs down the shoulders onto the traditional, cold painted body. This vase is in excellent condition with no chips and very little rubbing. Sold, Thank you! A large Gohon pottery Sweets bowl by Kiyomizu Rokubei V with expertly rendered Sparrows ascending into the sky painted by Imao Keinen enclosed in the original wooden box signed by both artists. It is 8-1/2 inches (21 cm) diameter, 4 inches (10 cm) tall and in excellent condition.

Sold, Thank you! An exotic white inko in a pine tree enclosed in the original red lacquered double signed wooden box (Niju bako). Pigment and ink on silk in a fine brown silk border patterned with Kiri leaves, extended with blue gray and featuring large ivory rollers. It measures 23-1/2 x 80-1/2 inches (60 x 204 cm). There is light foxing, mostly concentrated to the right of the tree. The seals are pubished in the large museum Anthology “Keinen” figures B and D.

SOLD A splendid and unusually large tetsubin decorated with geometric patterns with peonies and butterflies set within a frame. This piece is a collaboration of two major artists. The body has a seal by the kama-shi or tea kettle maker, Okuni Jurou, and the lid is signed by Kinryudo. Okuni Jurou, along with his father Okuni Toubei were famous for their skill and artistry during the Meiji and Taisho Periods. Condition is original and excellent.

Sold, Thank you! A very rare painting of a skull and scattered bones lost to autumns dead grasses by important 20th century Zen priest Takeda Mokurai. Ink on paper bordered in brown cloth with gray extensions; dark wood rollers. The scroll is 16 by 68 cm (40.5 x 172.5 cm) in fine condition.
Mokurai began his journey down the Buddhist path at the age of 7 under the priest Ryodo. Developing under a number of masters, it was during a sojourn in Hakata he developed a love for poetry and calligraphy, somethi... A fine applique panel mounted on gold foil, embroidered in tiny Peking knot and gold thread. Showing a big cat in a landscape, in an old European frame with antique finish. Condition: little faded.
