SOLD An antique Japanese Tohoku Mizuya Tansu (kitchen chest) made of Keyaki (Zelkova) and Hinoki (Cypress). All original hand forged iron hardware with Urushi lacquer finish. Three sets of sliding doors with removable shelves behind the larger doors. Three side by side drawers provide additional storage. Sections can be separated for use in different rooms of the house.
Age: Meiji Era (1890-1910) Dimensions: 36 3/8" Wide by 62 1/2" High by 16 1/2" Deep Elegant Agano ware Chaire (tea caddy) with lovely bluish green glaze made in Fukuchi, Fukuoka Prefecture.
The mark of the kiln is stamped on the base. Agano ware pottery is produced in today's Fukuoka prefecture since 1602 when the lord of the Kokura domain, a master of the tea ceremony, brought Sonkai, a potter from Korea's Joseon Dynasty (1392-1897), to build a climbing kiln in Agano area. Vivid bluish green glaze rich of copper is a typical for Agano ware.

$950.00 Antique Japanese tall ikebana basket made of wide and flat strips of split bamboo. The mouth and overall shape is an elongated square with a curved handle made of two pieces of bamboo woven together. The corners of the basket are reinforced with bamboo and knot work. The bamboo has a dark, rich finish. On the bottom is a signature in loose calligraphy that reads either: work by 城山: Jōzan or Shiroyama or work by 城正: Jōsei or Shiromasa.

A rare Burmese book with paper (made from mulberry tree bark) pages, the front and back covers with lacquer relief decoration with small inset glass spangles. The central panels showing the title of the book in Burmese script. Approximately 280 pages, handwritten in black Burmese script, edges gilt. Condition: covers are dusty (one is dirty) and with some wear, some corners with small losses. Pages with few stains, but wormholes. Dimension: 39.4 x 17.6 x 9.5 cm, weight: 2.4 kg.
