An antique Hon Kotansu (personal book storage chest) made of Kirinoki (Paulownia) wood. Two hinged Biraki doors open to a split level shelf where books and other personal belongings were stored. Two side by side drawers below gave additional storage space for organizing. Straight dovetail joinery with hardened wood nails were used in its construction.

Antique Chinese bitong (brush pot) carved of huanghuali wood with mythical chilong creatures. Undulating edges around the rim seem to unfurl. The lower portion is carved with a cusped edge and three low feet. Beautiful grain.

An unusually large vase by Seifu Yohei III with carved cloud designs covered in mottled red flambe glaze. The box is titled Dawn-cloud-glazed Vase, Made by the former Seizan (alternate name used by Seifu III) dated Late in the Year of the Earth-Horse in the Taisho era (1918), attested to by the 4th generation Seifu. Rare antique Chinese multi-color scholar's brush holder in the form of the Chinese men's boot, Ming Dynasty 1368 -1644 AD.

Made of ceramic with sancai glazing, elaborately molded-in raised pattern, the boot's toe is adorned with a monster mask and richly glazed in cobalt blue, turquoise, brown, and cream beige.

CONDITION: Shows the age and use, with minor age wear.
