The creator of this extraordinary work, Shibuya Deishi, is best known for his works of “Oni-hagi”—typically made with rough clay and heavy dripping glazes. This piece by contrast seems delicately crafted and has a very soft and warm quality to it. Large old Chinese rosewood stand on 5 small feet. Well constructed, it is very sturdy and will hold a lot of weight. There appears to be a repair on the inner bottom, but when we tried to move the piece in question, it would not budge. Therefore there are absolutely no condition issues with this stand. Measures 3.25" (8.9 cm) high, and about 8.5" (21.6 cm) diameter (see 2nd photo).

A tapered porcelain snuff bottle featuring a darling scene of 5 Chinese boys at play in which one child can be seen pulling an animal pull toy. Decorated in famille rose enamels the bottle comes with its original cap and bone spoon. The cap is green jade, and red glass the color of red coral. There are two opposing chips on the red section. Substantial sized Chinese late Qing dynasty Guangxu period tobacco pipe with bamboo stem, horn (probably ox-horn) mouth piece, and baitong (paktong, or white brass) bowl and shank. A bridge and weeping-cherry (shidare sakura) draped over swirling eddies on this silver lidded Meiji period Koro incense burner on its original matching table. On the table a waterwheel is visible downstream from the same scene, tiny silver beads floating on the crests of the ripples.
