Chinese export plate, decoration in Famille rose enamels of flowers and finger lemon. The well with an iron red border in European Rococo style and the background with greenish shade (more so than is seen on the photos). Diameter "9/ 23 cm. A fine and rare Qianlong period porcelain bowl decorated with a rich blue glaze accentuated with gold highlights. Featuring two different scenes of people in a landscape setting, the transparent enamel glazes feel smooth as silk. The bowl was repaired in the 1800's with 3 metal staples and there are 2 rim chips at the break. The repair is excellent, the bowl is solid, and it still retains a nice ring when tapped. Chinese blue and white saucer, Kangxi period, c 1700. “Clobbered” decoration in Imari style (added in Europe for higher retail value) of some of the auspicious Hundred Treasures in iron red and gilt. Diameter "5¼ / 13.2 cm. Condition: a glaze flake to the rim and minimal nicks to foot rim.

Small wine bowl, beautifully enamelled in Famille rose colours. Coffee coloured glaze to the exterior, so called Batavia ware (shipped from the Dutch colony in Indonesia, Batavia, today known as Jakarta). Yongzheng or early Qianlong, first half of the 18th century. Diameter "2½/ 6.6 and height "1½/ 4 cm. Condition: a hairline (cf picture).

DESCRIPTION: A large Qing Dynasty artist’s calligraphy brush fashioned from wood and carved in a naturalistic design. The long black bristles are attached to a bulbous ferrule with the handle carved in a design reminiscent of bamboo leaves. This is a substantial, sturdy brush that shows usage wear and minor splitting on the handle. DIMENSIONS: 17 ¼” long (43.8 cm).

A superb sculptural work of horizontal facets stacked upon each other in twisting obelisk by Mashiko based potter Matsuzaki Ken enclosed in the original signed wooden box. This is a masterpiece by this artist. It is 17 inches (43 cm) tall, 8 x 8-1/2 inches (20 x 21 cm) and in excellent condition. An identical shape is held in the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and published in the book “Contemporary Clay, Japanese Ceramics for the New Centruy” by Joe Earle.

Cylinder shaped (hanzutsu) tea bowl made of light, fine, unrefined Mino clay. Shape and style (note the trimmed walls) make it appear contemporary with the late Oribe bowls.

The expertly thrown body is covered with the typical white, feldspatic Shino glaze has been poured under which a decoration of a willow tree (yanagi) and a fence have been applied in iron oxide (oni ita). Circular wooden box with fitted interior. The cover inlaid in mother-of-pearl with ducks swimming in a lotus pond and auspicious symbols. The exterior walls with flowers and Chinese characters. Condition: separating age cracks, few inlays lost, cover with an old rim loss, interior warped. Dimension: diameter 24.3 cm, 11.2 cm high.

Sub-Continent tribal white metal Necklace, 13" long across and 2 1/2" high for metal part linked with cloth rope which can be changed. Each link is carved with dangling leaf shape charms, the charms are hollow inside, and connected together with rope to stay and hang together neatly. The inside of the bowl has a gilt shou symbol (Chinese character for longevity), lined in red and surrounded by five red lucky bats. A kozuka with sea shell and seaweed decoration with gold and silver overlaid on shakudo (a pickled gold and copper alloy) nanako ('fish roe' textured ground.) The utility knife handle with filed gilt bronze sides and back. Slight bend and the nanako somewhat dented in places. Would present nicely enough with a sword fitted to hold a kozuka in the saya (scabbard.) Kogatana (utility blade) not included. Length, 3 3/4 inches.
