Living National Treasure Fujiwara Yu (1932-2001) Bizen Goma-Hidasuki Chawan (Studio Pottery Bizen ware).
The mark of the potter is carved on the bottom.

Very interesting chawan which combines two Bizen techniques: Goma (outer side) and Hidasuki (inner).
Goma resembles sesame seeds because the of the attached pine ash. The pottery is placed on the shelves full of prepared ash which melts by heat during firing.

Exquisitely, embroidery panel from the Yao, sometimes referred as the Mien, ethnic group from northwest Laos near the Vietnamese border. This piece is the back panel from of a woman’s jacket with silk embroidered thread on hand woven indigo dyed cloth and is in excellent condition (one tiny pin hole and later embroidery noted in enlargements), circa 75 years old. Wonderful Early to Mid Edo (17-18cc) Kuro Oribe Kutsugata Chawan (distorted tea bowl) for Tea Ceremony.

Clay covered with black dull glaze, of irregular form with unglazed foot ring and surrounding area. The old label on the box has the name Rinzo (林蔵) who was probably a potter or a tea master.

Late 19th Century Japanese cloisonne bronze charger with a flock of flying cranes. Beautifully designed, it measures 12 inches in diameter. There are a few stress marks in the upper left side, please study last photograph where I have enlarged and highlighted the area through photoshop. It is not as evident in person. Pricing has taken this into account.
