A large ovoid Chinese Martavan (aka Martaban) jar from the 16th/17th century. (Martavan jars were produced in China's southern region and shipped, via the port of Martabanin present day Myanmar, to various neighboring countries as storage containers for various commodities...these storage vessels became prized possessions by the local peoples.) Chinese hard stone brush washer carved into a gourd bottle shape, with two separate pockets for brush washing, the top carved with smaller gourds and spiraling vines, the bottom carved smooth. The stone is light green with orange areas.

Autumn colors by Goto Shiro in thick pigment on silk in a superb patterned-silk frame with solid ivory rollers. It comes in the original signed wooden box with a Futo-maki rolling bar titled Yudonoyama Banshu (Late Autumn at Mt. Yudono). Tiny statue of Bodhisattva Avalokiteshvara in his Padmapani manifestation, wearing formal garment and diadem, standing on a lotus. Gilt bronze. China, Tang Dynasty. Height: 4.6 cm. The statue is mounted on a plexiglass stand. Gilding partly missing, otherwise very good condition.

A traditional Korean gentlemen's headgear piece called a Gat, constructed of woven horsehair, bamboo, lacquer and silk. The Gat represented the social status of the wearer and protected their topknot underneath.
