Single section Hinkoki (Japanese Cypress) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) wood merchant glass display tansu. Originally used in a merchant shop to display the stores wares for sale.. Shallow in depth with countertop height. Two shelves are located inside for storage needs with the glass support panes in line with the shelves preventing visual distraction of items being shown. Beautifully finished with natural blond tones. Overall in very good condition.

Ancient Chinese tomb pottery figure of a horse and rider. Made of gray clay and painted with polychrome slip pigment. The figure is clothed in flowing robes and a hat that covers his ears. Facial details on both the figure and the horse are wonderfully well preserved.

Antique Chinese figure of Quan Yin. Revered as the goddess of mercy and compassion she stands holding a strand of prayer beads in her hands. Her sweeping robes are decorated with scrolling details and her hair is arranged on top of her head. Also considered the goddess of beauty, her name in Sanskrit is Padma-pani (Born of the Lotus). An antique Chinese wardrobe cabinet made entirely of Jumu wood. Large circular nickel/brass plate door hardware representing a coin which symbolizes wealth and prosperity. It was originally commissioned and made for part of a woman's wedding dowry. Two large doors open to reveal a spacious storage area with a removable shelf which can adjust to two levels. Below the doors are three drawers with looped handles and a hand carved foliated apron.

An antique Japanese single section Mizuya Tansu (kitchen chest) made of Hinoki (Cypress) and Keyaki (Zelkova) woods. 2 sliding doors designed with individually cut vertical slats (as opposed to a solid board carved to look like slats). A striking design of swirling dots decorates this wide low chawan by female porcelain legend Ono Hakuko enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Yuri Haku-kin Sai Hira Chawan (White Gold Decorated Wide Tea Bowl).
