Olive Green SONG DYNASTY Celadon Vase with top incised band decor, craquele, bottom is not glazed, condition: good, size: H. 11cm x 10.5cm diameter

A large dish used for raw fish or shellfish (mukozuke) for the tea ceremony in which guests are served. It measures at 11.75” square x 2” high. This dish is designed in the traditional Japanese ascetic of simple brush strokes and relaxed design; such a dish was not intended for export and does not conform to the Western ascetic of gaudy and over crowded design. A true testament of genuine Japanese tradition. The plate dates to the late Meiji to early Tashio period (1900-20).

An unusual divided double brass cricket cage with a glass front. The top of the case has the symbol etched in for prosperity. The glass divider in the case is missing but can easily be replaced. Age. Mid 19th century. Size: H. 7cm. W. 10.5cm. Condition: No repairs.

This is a fabulous woven silk fukusa designed with Japanese tastes in mind. It is woven in silk with the addition of gold lacquered silk threads. Each of the four corners has four turtle tassels. The reverse side is red with a gold paulownia mon also woven with god threads. This is a very striking piece and makes a superb interior design statement. In excellent condition, it measures 24.5” square. We date this to mid-Showa.

This wonderful Japanese banko nodder is somewhat unusual in that his head nods side to side rather than front to back like most nodders on the market. Dating circa 1880-1899, he was hand molded as evidenced by indentations and finger prints left by the artist on the inside of the bell/body. The size of Charger: 12 3/8" Dia x 1 3/4" High. Very Fine Japanese Aote Kutani Charger. Aote is green in Kutani ware terminology which was Miyamoto kiln originated. A charming Chinese porcelain vase with a painting of a young boy playfully dangling a spider in front of a cat while his mother appears to be feeding a bat (for good luck). Dating very early Republic period and in excellent condition with all enamels intact, this vase measures 9" high.

Attractive small 19th Century Thai Rattanakosin Buddha seated in deep meditation (Virasana) on a stepped throne. The Unisa or flame above the head symbolizes attainment of Nirvana or is indicative of supreme knowledge. Very good condition. Size: H. 2.5" x W. 1.5" x D. 1"

Small Guangxu ink well, circa 1880's, dense, heavy and beautiful. It could also have been used as a small brush washer and doubled as a document or paper weight when not in use. In good condition it has a few nicks around the outer edge expected with a well used piece. Measures 3.25 wide x 1.25 high.

Tai Yai (rare Burmese tribal ethnic group) hand carved wooden Buddha subduing Mara with gilding and inlaid mirrors on throne. Wood on left side and back shows aging, otherwise in nice condition. Size: H. 13" (33 cm.) x W. 4.5" (12 cm.) x D. 3" (8 cm.)

Chinese Bamboo woven 2 compartment Food Basket with handle and black Iris ink painting on top of the lid, and clear lacquer finish on the entire basket. Ca. early 1900's or later part of 1800's, 17 1/2" high with handle, 14" x 8 1/2" wide. All the parts are in place, nothing is missing. The basket is in good condition except wood joint have separation on the bottom of the trays, caused by the dryness and age. Maker's mark on the bottom in black.

Japanese pottery tsubo vase. An earthy, drab gray-green glaze on porcelaneous body with thin iron wash and with bold, rich red iron oxide glaze painted floral decoration on opposing sides of the tsubo form with thickly potted shoulder rising to a broad, everted rim. Two character impressed artist's mark inside the foot appears to read Kazan ('Ka' being the 10 stroke character also read as "hana".) A pleasant, substantial feel when held. Excellent condition. Height, 9 3/4 inches (24.76 cm)

A Fukagawa 11 7/8 inch fish service dish. Iris decoration from Chuji Fukagawa's own 19th century design book. Blue underglaze and red, yellow and gold overglaze enamel decoration including random butterflys. Mt. Fuji mark and Fukagawa Sei in underglaze blue inside the foot ring. Late Meiji or early Taisho.
