Good circa early 20th CE pair of miniature Lanna Northern Thai Buddhas. During Burma's Konbaung Dynasty (1752-1885), official announcements were made to the townspeople by a King's Representative accompanied by two gongsmen, who would customarily alert the town to their announcement by striking the maung...

Sino Tibetan bronze statue of the Buddhist deity Tara, the "mother of liberation" and representation of the virtues of success in work and achievements. She is a tantric figure whose image is used as a focus for meditation. She is shown gesturing the Dharmachakra Mudra, or Wheel-Turning Mudra, expressing the continuous energy of the cosmic order. She wears elaborate jewelry and her hair has applied blue pigment. Size: 9" height, 6" width

DESCRIPTION: A large, handsome Burmese wood sculpture of a male Nat, or nature spirit, dressed in traditional attire and engaged in a joyful dance. Such images were first carved from wood, then laboriously decorated with applications of red lacquer then gold gilt. Dating from the early 20th C., it has been mounted on a rod with square base. Please see the last photo for size comparison with our other Nat, FIG56. Although not purchased as a pair, these make wonderful companion pieces...

Antique Burmese statue of Buddha carved from alabaster. He is portrayed in a Mandalay style, which emerged at the end of the 18th century, in which he sports a bun at the top of his head, has a fleshier face, and is shown seated in a lotus position performing the Bhumispharsa mudra where he touches the Earth as he reaches enlightenment through meditation.
