Vietnamese octagonal form jar with rounded edges decorated around the circumference in eight underglaze blue alternating floral and geometric panels set against a buff ground. A band of lotus leaves at the shoulder extend around the mouth. Unglazed flat base with an unidentified mark applied. 15th century. 3 1/4" high x 3 1/2" diameter. Solidly potted and in very good overall condition. There are a few minor imperfections and glaze flaws...

Thai 14th - 15th Century Underglazed Footed Stoneware Box

This footed round stoneware box was made during the 14th - 15th century at the Sawankhalok kilns. It is decorated with scrolling and geometric patterns in underglaze iron-brown with a clear blueish and finely-crackled glaze. The inner surface of the box is coated with same clear blueish glaze.

This is a large example of its type with a diameter of 13 cm...

Thai 13th - 15th Century Sawankhalok Stoneware Covered Box

This covered stoneware box was made during the 13th - 15th centuries at the Sawankhalok kilns. It is elaborately decorated in underglaze blue with a ring of yellowish-brown glaze around the moulded top of the cover that is in the form of picked fruit. Diameter 9.75 cm, height 8 cm. There are a couple of fine hairline cracks to the edge of the cover and minor chips to the edge of the box...

This round box was made during the 13th - 15th century at the Sawankhalok kilns. Both cover and box have been decorated with an incised scrolling floral pattern, the design accentuated with the use of two different coloured glazes. The inner surface and base remain unglazed. Very unusually, to the base are incised lines: apart from the straight lines it appears there may be a picture incised although we cannot make out what it is...

Fine Thai 13th - 15th Century Celadon Stoneware Jar (Ex. Grahame Clarke Collection)

This attractively-shaped jar, or bottle, was made during the 13th - 15th centuries at the Sawankhalok kilns. It is coated in a finely-crackled translucent celadon glaze that falls short of the base revealing the stoneware body that has fired to a reddish-brown. There are bands of incised lines around the shoulder for decoration and two small loop handles...
