sold Antique Korean sewing box made using the 1500 year old Korean paper technique called Hanji. Paper is made by hand from mulberry pulp and used to fashion various items. This 8 sided box is decorated with Double Happiness symbols and stands on four feet made of sea shells.
Age: 19th century Size: 5 3/4" high x 13" wide x 13" wide Pair of Joseon dynasty or later Korean wood wedding ducks with subtly modeled feathers covered in layers of oiled stained paper, the heads separately carved and inserted by their long necks into a hole in the body. $450.00 Massive Korean rectangular form scholar’s inkstone with removable cover carved in high relief with a stylized dragon. The base has a central sloped rectangular inkwell bordered with two opposing dragons chasing a flaming pearl. The flat bottom is carved with low arches at the center of the four sides to form wide feet at the corners. 11 3/4" long x 8 1/4" wide x 3 7/8" high. Probably dates from the mid-20th century.
