Tall Japanese Sumida Gawa tankard with 6 mugs. All have the same potter's mark. Mugs measure 5" high, Tankard is 9.5" high. All are in very good condition except for a missing piece from the scroll on one mug, and broken thumb on another. Dates early 20th century.

A radical ink landscape by legendary artist Fukuda Kodojin. Ink on paper in a green silk patterned border set in beige with wood rollers. It is 13 x 70 inches (33 x 178 cm) and is in excellent condition.

Japanese tall armoire made all of kiri (paulownia) wood. This single section cabinet opens with two hinged cabinet doors. The interior has it's original metal rod for hanging clothes, a smaller metal rod on the right hand door and it's original small rectangular mirror. At the base is a single large drawer. Conservative design, with the only decoration being metal handles on the cabinet doors which are cut in a scrolling vine motif...

A diminutive carved wooden Shishi, used as architectural elements placed under the eaves of Shinto and Buddhist temples to ward off evil spirits. Carved Hinoki wood with glass reverse-painted eyes. Mounted on custom steel metal display stand.

The expression of this armor, with its dragon and carp maedate transformation, sets the tone of its mythological meaning. The red armor has a Zunari Kabuto decorated with a Nichirin sun motif, which supports the dragon and carp conversion. The menpo is a Reisei-men with rabbit hair mustache, rendering a fierce warrior’s expression. The menpo is attached with four Kiritsuke yodare in blue and gold silk cords...

A finely painted Kakiemon dish of scalloped form painted in under-glaze blue with a pair of auspicious Hoo birds amongst clouds, harbingers of good fortune, with stylised Peony branches. The reverse painted with a classic lotus scroll and a square fuku seal. Dating circa 1680-1700 and a product of the Kama-no Tsuji (Kakiemon) kiln in the Nangawara valley, note the fine pin point spurs and carefully trimmed footrim. A rare Arita flower vase following a bronze form decorated in somenishikide style. The long flared neck decorated with a plume of stylised leaves with a pair of ring handles enamelled in green and iron red with gilding. The wasted bulbous body of the vase decorated with the figure of a Chinese scholar fishing and the reverse with stylised waves and flowering plants. The vase measures 22.5cm high and is approximately cm in diameter at its widest point 9.5cm. It weighs 620grams...

A Japanese scalloped rimmed bowl with a janome, bulls eye base, decorated wth three lotus form reserves each containing an auspicious somewhat rotund karashishi with a ribboned cash symbol inset against a rather unusual budo karakusa, grape vine arabesque. The base decorated with a stylised lotus pattern and the rim with a pattern of alternating double crested waves and gobenka. The interior decorated with a shochikubai-mon; the Three Friends of Winter...

A spectacular work by Tsujimura Shiro enclosed in the original signed wooden box featuring a dark burn down one side, as if water has been pouring from the rim for centuries over the same place. The rough clay studded with inclusions and Shiseki is everything we have come to expect from this potter. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall, 5 inches (12.5 cm) diameter and in excellent condition.
Tsujimura Shiro was born in Nara in 1947, and began his steps into the art world as an oil painter...

Three well painted Shunga scenes with a loving couples. Silk with ink and colors. Fitted on traditional, gold-spotted cardboard. Meiji, ca. 1880. H 17 cm, W 19 cm. Condition: One in very good condition, the other two : over-all quite good. Minor spots.

Historically, fusuma were often painted with scenes from nature such as mountains, forests, or animals. The traditional scale of the door is 5'7". The Hinoki wood panels are painted with Rimpa paint and flecks of gold, creating a mist. The floral composition is with camellia, cherry blossom, hollyhock, and chrysanthemums.

The camellia flowers symbolize young sons and daughter. Tsubaki (camellia) symbolizes the divine, faithfulness and longevity...

A dish by preeminent avant-garde artist Yagi Kazuo enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Haku Ogi Kashizara dating from the 1960s. The plate is ribbed like the surface of a folding fan, thus the name. It is roughly 7 inches (17.5 cm) diameter and is in excellent condition...

The Japanese tantutu pistol has a octagonal russet iron barrel, with flat sighting plains on top and bore of 3/8". A stock dai of Keyaki wood and brass plate jiita of the arquebus's firing mechanism. Mounted for display on a custom museum iron mount.

Mingei jizai with Keyaki wood carved folding fan, hard-wrought iron chain, and a clover ring and hook. Unusual small size making for a charming sculptural item. Originally used to hold and suspend tetsubin (tea pot) over coals for heating.
