First edition Taisho period Japanese woodblock print titled “The Snow Maiden Umekawa” (aka “The Heroine Umekawa in the Snow”) from the supplements of “The Complete Works of Chikamatsu Manzaemon" by Kitano Tsunetomi (1880-1947) published in 1923. First edition with mica and silver highlights, hand applied gofun, black ink Tsunetomi seal at the upper right, and Yamagishi Kazue (carver) and Nishimura Kumakichi (printer) seals at the lower edge...

A Japanese woodblock print of a kneeling male figure drying a shō, a traditional musical instrument of the reed family, a form of mouth organ, over a brazier. The print is attributed to Kitao Masanobu, 1761~1816 and probably dates to the late 18th century.

A good impression with some gauffrage on the kimono collar. The mount is inscribed in pencil “Mafsanobu”.

Approximately 20.3 x 14.4 cm. The print is laid by the edges to thin card. It is foxed at the edges...

Japanese Meiji period woodblock print by Kobayashi Kiyochika (1847-1915) depicting Kusunoki Masashige (1294-1336) parting from his eldest son Masatsura (1326-1348) at Sakurai Station as he entrusts Masatsura to lead his clan in battle against Ashikaga no Takauji. The title cartouche is at the upper right and the date of 1883 is at the lower left. Kiyochika’s name is at the lower right. Paper size: 14 1/4" x 9 5/8." Signed in white ink and with the artist's red seal at the lower right. Circa 1950s. Unlimited edition. Paper size: 11 1/2" x 17 1/4” (image size: 10 3/16" x 15 1/8”). Very good overall condition. There are three small areas of tape residue on the back upper edge at the center and corners.

There are some horizontal soft creases in the paper, primarily within the margins, that are visible in the main image...

Japanese mid-century sosaku hanga woodblock print depicting a horse in a stable by Kiyoshi Saito (1907-1997). Signed in black ink at the lower left and with the artist's red seal above. Unlimited edition dating circa 1960. Paper size: 11 1/2" x 17 1/8" (image: 10 1/8" x just over 15"). The print was never framed and is in very good overall condition and color with full margins. There is some waviness to the paper and a couple of the margin corners have creases.

An original color woodblock print in the oban size by the Japanese Sosaku Hanga artist Kiyoshi Saito (1907 - 1997). Unlimited, dating from the 1960's. Hand signed in black ink and sealed. Condition: fine, very good impression and color. Dimension: image: 26 cm x 38.7 cm, paper: 29.3 cm x 43.7 cm.

An original limited edition Kiyoshi Saito woodblock print entitled Chapel France that was made in 1960 and numbered 11 of 120. Deep purple hues border a silvery road which visually leads to the bare branches of a tree in winter. The focus then turns to a somewhat distant church in the background which is this prints main theme. Saito then layered this print with textured paint adding a depth unlike most of his other prints...
