In his hands he holds a vajra, a ritualistic weapon representing firmness of spirit and spiritual power, and prayer beads...

Beautiful, original woodblock print by ukiyo-e woodblock artist Utagawa Kunisada, also known as Toyokuni III (1786–1864). It is #22 in a series called Sono sugata Yukari no usushi-e, or "Stories of Reincarnated Beings". In the center of the print there is a young child, hunched forward as he eagerly listens to stories from an adult woman in a pink kimono with blue and grey sleeves, with a sheathed sword across her lap. A bowl of treats and a black lamp with flowers sits between them...

Original Japanese kabuki actor color woodblock print by artist Toyohara Kunichika, 1835 – 1900. Beautifully framed and matted measuring 17" x 22", the print site size is 9.75" x 13.5". Any streaking is reflection from the glass. Print does not appear to have any condition issues.

Woodblock print by Japanese sōsaku-hanga artist Toshi Yoshida (1911-1995) titled "Irozaki Morning". It shows the beautiful Cape Irozaki, done with soft pastels in the sky as the sun rises in the distance. Waves crash upon the rocks in the foreground, and three ships can be seen leaving port. It is signed and titled in pencil along the bottom, stamped in the corner, and also signed in kanji along the outer edge. Size: 11.25" height, 15" length

Framed Japanese woodblock theater triptych, circa 1860. In good condition, it has not been examined out of frame, but the prints appear to be loosely attached. The 3 prints measure as seen, site size: 27.75 x 13.5 site, Frame measures: 32.5" x 18.25" . Allison University and studied in Japan to perfect his woodblock techniques, where he remained for 17 years before returning to Canada. He became a professional artist in 1975 while residing in Japan. This woodblock, titled "Interior" dates from his first year as a professional artist and depicts a room with a central fire pit and tea kettle hanging above it...

Japanese print titled "Then Zen" by artist Clifton Karhu (1927-2007) depicting the Laughing Buddha Bodai within an ensō, a Zen Buddhist symbol representing enlightenment as well as the simplicity and elegance of Japanese aesthetics. Bodai sits cross-legged and balances a red sake bowl on his head. The words "nip, sip, dip", "swish", and "then zen" are stylistically written outside of the ensō. Red signature marks and large Japanese characters at written on the right side of the print...
