As styles of fashion evolved latter around the 17th century onwards, the suou became in important costume worn by the actors of the noh and kyogen theaters. Today the suou is still used in Noh and Kyogen, and with the Shrine maidens...

sold thank you This is Japanese rare edo hand shibori (Tie-dye) & Hand embroidery and Natural safflower dyeing silk kimono.
This shibori and embroidery technique is wonderful, very luxurious and beautiful kimono.
The cranes around and the flying cranes are very charming.
There is no stain, but there are parts where the embroidery is slightly off...

It is a gorgeous and beautiful kimono with an excellent design of dahlia, chrysanthemums, nadeshiko, running water, roses, and hagi flowers.

Shibori is a method of fabric dying in which bits of cloth are tied, sewn, folded, twisted, etc. to create patterns, similar to the Western method of tie-dye.
