This is a first class Kashiki of old Shino ware. It is 200 years old ( Edo Period ), beautiful distorted and has a tasteful painting.

Kashiki is the general term for bowls or plates to present biscuits and sweets for the tea ceremony.

It is an indispensable item for the authentic tea ceremony.

There is potter's mark. The name of the artist is Sozan. Nice antique condition with aesthetic inborn kiln cracks and with no repairs...

Japanese hand hammered Copper Water Container or Mizusashi for tea ceremony, 6 3/4" high with dark brown lacquered on wood top, 6 1/4" diameter, shape of ancient urn. The condition is good, except little lacquer losses on the side edge of the cover.

Japanese iron tea kettle/brazier in a gourd shape. The bottom brazier has two openings, one in front and one in back, and has two large, round handles on its sides, held in the mouths of beasts or dragons. The upper portion is for boiling tea and has two slim handles on either of its sides. The hardwood lid has a very cute leaf and flower bud decoration. Comes with two iron coal pokers. He was a famous potter during Meiji-Taisho periods who studied with 4th Ninnami Dohachi and worked in different styles such as Raku and Mishima...

A beautifully crafted Shino ware chawan with fantastic crackled glaze by Kato Gorohachi (?-1900) The potter signature is carved on the bottom.

Probably inspired by early Korean Ido shape examples, the bowl perfectly lies in hands giving strong Wabi feel.

There is not much information available about this Meiji potter even in Japan and his birth year is unknown.
He worked in the Hinno kiln of Aichi Prefecture in late 19 century.

This vivid Mino Iga tea bowl is made by renowned Japanese ceramist Yaemon Kato (b.1942)
The mark of the potter is carved near the foot ring.

Yaemon Kato, a third son of Juemon Kato (1894-1974), continued his father's efforts to revive and restore Mino ceramic art working on Shino, Kiseto, Oribe, Mino Iga, etc.

Mint Oni-Hagi masterpiece chawan with notched foot by star potter Seigan Yamane. This extraordinary tea bowl is covered by wonderful different shades of green and purple glaze on brown pottery. In my opinion it is the one of the most aesthetic chawans that he made. The seal of the artist is stamped on the bottom. We have a similar chawan with orange-red glaze - same price.
