Finely carving of a charming Pigeon resting on its characteristic true-to-form bird feet, just as shown in the book 'NETSUKE 100 Miniature Masterpieces from Japan', by Noriko Tsuchiya, that displays netsuke pieces from the The British Museum in London. Fine cohesive composition partly stained to enhance its form. Eyes inlaid with dark horn. The signature of MITSUHIRO 光廣 is intricately carved under the pigeon feet, as shown in the book's picture.

The immortal is powerfully carved in wood, probably cherry. Gama Sennin holds his stick in his hand and his toad on his shoulder. He is unusually tall. The sculpture is powerful, the folds of the dress are elegant and the expression is serene. Although Gama-Sennin is attested male there are rare examples of its female representation. The softness of the features make me think that this would be a woman...

Netsuke in fine-grained wood representing a toad. The sculpture is powerful, the animal is very well represented, the movements of the body and the volumes are perfect. The eyes are encrusted with a very beautiful blond horn striped with brown for the most beautiful effect. Signature of the artist below. I haven't researched the name, but I can do it on request. Edo period. Himotoshi 2 holes. Good condition, excellent patina. No restaure. Usual wear for a century-old wood. Length about 6cm.

Netsuké representing a squirrel, perhaps a dormouse. The little animal is carved from a boar's tooth. He has just been surprised and stands on his hind legs momentarily abandoning the vegetable (eggplant?) he was nibbling. Its inset eyes were carved from a shiny black material, probably horn. The imotoshi is natural, formed by the base of the tail. The artist knew how to breathe life into this little animal...

Netsuke - Nice model of the Shichifukujin Takarabune (The famous boat loaded with treasures of the 7 gods of happiness) in carved boxwood. Nice carving details of the whole composition. The 7 deities are all identifiable, the boat itself is ornate, the waves and a small Minogame turtle sculpted on the base. The cartridge signature has disappeared over time. Very nice natural patina. Good and rare model of an old man, figure of chinese sage, standing and leaning to the right,, his hand on his beard and smiling wearing a beautiful large patterned robe. A dog is sitting at his feet. In the Behrens catalogue by Henri Joly, a similar exemple is represented as Wei Peh-Yang, from the Han dynasty.
