Exquisite Antique Japanese pair of large garden lanterns. Each is made of cast iron in 10 sections. The roof of each has raised writing, the lantern portions are decorated with kiri blossoms. The pedestals are coiled around with dragons in low relief, the base of each has high relief fu-dogs. Very difficult to collect. Meiji Period (1868 - 1912) All original iron Size of each: 62 1/2" high x 24" wide at widest part. (Each base is approx 20" wide)

Antique Japanese bronze yatate, a pipe shaped container for the carrying of cotton saturated with calligraphy ink with a long shaft for a brush. The main component is cylindrical in shape with an inner compartment and an outer decorative area with scrolling vines and flowers. The lid has a kiri leaf design. A beautiful exceptional pair of Japanese bronze vases, wonderfully cast with trumpet shaped necks and receded panels around the main body. Shakudō (赤銅) is a billon of gold and copper (typically 4–10% gold, 96–90% copper) which can be treated to form an indigo/black patina resembling lacquer. Bordered design with gilt designs of leaves. Gilt imagery of wild birds among crossing branches, reeds, chrysanthemums in bloom, and a bundle of hay decorate either vase...

An unusual Meiji period bronze image of the jolly Daikoku-ten, one of the 7 gods of fortune, looking incredibly relaxed and content. His hat is removable to reveal a chamber for burning incense, and the smoke would be exhaled though his open mouth. It is 6-1/2 x 8 x 5-1/2 inches 16.5 x 20 x 14 cm) and is in overall fine, original condition. The artist chop is in a raised cartouche on the base and appears to read Yoshioka Minpo.

An interesting all original Japanese ikebana (flower arrangement) basket with a wide, flat woven body and a gnarled root handle. The inside of the basket is lined with a removable bronze dish. True work of art. Meiji age (1868 - 1912) Size: 13.25" height, 16" diameter

A fine dark olive bronze by Living National Treasure Katori Masahiko enclosed in the original signed wooden box. It is 8 inches (20 cm) tall and in fine condition. Katori Masahiko (1899-1988) was born into the family of prominent Bronze Artist Katori Hozuma in Chiba. He was internationally awarded at the Paris Exposition in 1925, the year he graduated The Tokyo University of Fine Arts (a student of Tsuda Shinobu)...
