Well cast Japanese Edo period round-form bronze kagami (mirror) decorated in relief with a motif of cranes among pines. The perforated central boss, which is designed to hold a tassel, is in the form of a minogame (tortoise). Two cranes reach toward each other with their beaks to kiss the head of the tortoise. Marked "Tenka" (all under Heaven) at the lower right. This decorative motif has been attributed to the Momoyama period (16th/17th century)...

A fine old ceremonial sake pourer, hisage, hand made from copper and decorated with shochikubai (pine, plum and bamboo), minogame and cranes. Also present are two prominent Tokugawa family crests and on the handle three 16 petalled chrysanthemum crests and another on the rear handle mount. 19th century or earlier. Fine work.

The body of the pourer has probably been raised from one sheet of copper...

Very nice small Japanese bronze bowl with a slightly flared lip. May have been used on an alter for offerings or to burn incense. Beautiful warm patina with nice weight to it, this bowl measures 3" across the top by 1.25" high. Dates circa 1850.

Antique Japanese cast copper jizai okimono of an articulated cricket. Small, articulated metal figures of this type are called jizai okimono (literally "free decorative object"). They typically have moveable bodies, arms, legs. Each copper section of this okimono is finely cast, depicting a natural realism, a style that was prominent during the Meiji Period. An exact miniature version of a Tanegashima matchlock rifle in the form of a Netsuke with a little gilt metal loop as himotoshi. The match-lock rifle was introduced by the Portuguese in 1543 and is rarely seen in Netsuke art. The rifle is iron with brass and black lacquer and gilding. A set of three bronze macaques with fine incised detail in their faces and fur. Their postures are a highly naturalistic rendering. The underbelly of each monkey is signed by the famous bronze animalist artist, Genryusai Seiya. Perfect condition. Provenance: Austrian private collection.

A pair of antique Japanese vases finely cast with raised images on both highlighted with gold & shakudo. The images of a temple scene, hillside landscape with trees and monks are on one vase. The other vase has a scene of a bridge with people and a distant village. the clouds on each extend to the upper body.

A nice Japanese bronze suiteki or water dropper in the shape of a coin. In very good condition, it measures about 2 inches long and a little over an inch high. Dates circa 1930's.

Stunning tall pair of Japanese rabbits with a rich bronze patina over metal. Very heavy, they have the weight of solid bronze and the underlying metal may possibly be white bronze. A terrific decorator item, they are in very good condition with only minor abrasions underneath. Standing rabbit measures 9.75 inches high and 9" long. Reclining rabbit measures 9.5" at ear tip and 11" long. Dates 2nd half 20th C

Two(2) Japanese floral shape darkened Brass Fusuma Sliding Door Handles, early 1900's, 3" diameter, 5/8" to 3/8" deep, 2 nail holes on the sides, some black lacquer on brass are worn, metal part is in good condition.

Very nice 2 Japanese Gilded and Lacquered on Brass Fusuma Sliding Door Handles, early 1900's, 3 1/4" diameter, 1/2" deep, impressed vines design on rounded soft brown Lacquered Brass front with gilded Brass rims, 2 nail holes on the sides, the condition is good, probably used in very elegant and important home in Japan.

Six(6) Japanese Gilded on Copper Hardware fittings, early 1900's, 2" wide, 2 1/4" deep include long nail, loose 3 pieces fit together tight once nailed in place. One of them has old black lacquer finish and most of gilt finish worn off, no missing pieces.
