A fine silver kiseru (kizeru) pipe with natural bamboo body, the ends finely engraved with a dragon and tiger in the bamboo grove. The color of the central bamboo section is dark (almost black) with purple tint. The eye (eyes) is inlaid with gold (very small though). Circa 1900. 7 1/4” (18.8cm)

18 cm long set of Kanzashi with five Bira dangling from a branch to which is caught a court cap, possibly dragged from the wearers head during a horse race, or perhaps flung off in a passionate moment. For someone interested we have a museum quality collection of combs and hair pins which I would prefer to sell together in accordance with the previous owners wishes. Birakan (bira Bira Kanzashi) were hair pins used by all classes of society and were one of a woman’s most prized possessions...

Elegant silver hairpin with gilded bird, possibly a nightingale on the branch of a plum tree. The plum blossoms are made out of small corals. 7 and 7/8” long, Meiji/Taisho.

A spectacular set of bira-bira-kanzashi hair pins in the form of cranes among blossoming plum and pine formed of silver which come enclosed in a custom made silk-lined wooden box. Two are 13 inches (33 cm) long, the other is 9 inches (23 cm) long and all are in fine condition. According to a label inside the box they are from Akita City in Northern Japan, sold by Takeyaso Hon-ten. The box is 15 x 17 x 5 inches (38 x 43 x 13 cm). I do have more images if someone is interested.

Beautiful Japanese small commemorative sake dish. Round shape on footed base and incised. The bottom of each dish is inscribed as the 12th, 13th, and 14th National Weaving Competition. The silver sake dishes were made by Yamazaki Shoten of Ginza. Each has its own tomobako with seal. Age: Taisho Period (1912-1925) Sizes: Small dish: 1" h x 3" diameter, approx. 50 grams. Medium dish: 1.125" h x 3.5" diameter, approx. 62.5 grams. Large dish: 1375" h x 4.125" diameter, approx. 85 grams.

Antique Japanese small silver box with a 14-petal Chrysanthemum in the center of its lid, a special mon indicative of the Imperial household. The underside of the box is marked with a 5 character Japanese inscription. Meiji period (1868 - 1912)

A Japanese silvered and polychrome enamels okimono pair of manchurian cranes on a natural wooden base. Finely chiseled and engraved, they are supported by a natural root base creating a unique elegance and harmony. The cranes represent conjugal fidelity, the couple lives together all their lives, it is also known as the red-crowned crane, it is sacred and seen as a symbol of loyalty, good luck, love and long life in the East. It is also the second rarest crane species in the world...

A pair of small Japanese shrine candlesticks. Each would received a long standing candle inserted onto each small spike. Swirring vines and flowers depicted on both half round base and round lipped top. Unusual small size.

Great accent piece for the contemporary home.

Pair of finely detailed full size silver Japanese temple candlesticks. Embossed with wild flowers and scrolling vines. Blooming flowers are seen from the base, up the stem to the top. Gorgeous original patina consistent with age. Overall very good condition.

A large Japanese solid silver vase depicting 4 flying cranes. Gilted eyes, dark feathers and copper paws. Signed Eihō 英鳳 on the back, the base with Junjin (pure silver hight quality) 950+ high grade silver. Artist from the Niigata Prefecture knew for his hammering technique, Ogawa Eiho was the pupil of Ito Katsuhide. Meiji-Taisho period 1920 ca. Sizes: 40 x 20 cm. Condition report: Very good condition

Six matching pairs of sterling silver salts and pepper shakers, artistically done in the form of the koi (carp or goldfish). The container for the salt is also silver, and the finely ground pepper loads into a threaded hole at the base and comes out of the holes in the mouth and eyes. Each fish measures about 3 1/2" long, and is marked "sterling". The 12 pieces weigh a total of about 11 ounces...

Golden cranes soar among clouds etched into the surface of this solid silver Japanese hanging incense burner (Tsuri Koro) dating from the late 19th to early 20th century. Inside is an ash-cup suspended in a triple-hinged gimble which keeps the ash pot upright no matter the angle of the ball itself. On the side is impressed the official Kokuin which reads Jungin (pure silver). The cranes have a soft golden sheen and are likely gilded or damascened with gold...

A Japanese pure silver vase depicting bamboo trunks with leaves, pine branches and plum tree in bloom with Japanese nightingale perched on a branch with open beak and posture in the act of singing.
