SOLD A Japanese iron garden lantern often referred to as a toro. Often these lanterns are placed within a garden setting to guide guests towards a tea house or an entrance to a building. The iron lantern contains a short inscription with the date when the piece was made (first year of Taisho, 1912) and that the lantern was made by Yojiro. SOLD Exquisite Antique Japanese pair of large garden lanterns. Each is made of cast iron in 10 sections. The roof of each has raised writing, the lantern portions are decorated with kiri blossoms. The pedestals are coiled around with dragons in low relief, the base of each has high relief fu-dogs. Very difficult to collect.

The This lantern has four panels: the door: a bird, bamboo branch, tree, sun in the clouds. The lid is round with a handle for hanging. The base is round with three feet. The door latches closed. It measures 11" diameter, 8" tall. Taisho period, circa 1920.

$950.00 Japanese early 20th century iron kettle by KIRYUDO. This pot is done with a pair of crane on a pine tree design in low relief on the front side of the kettle. The handle on the lid is done in the shape of a pine cone. KIRYUDO is done in chop mark on the back side of the kettle along with some other illegible characters. This iron pot measures 9 3/4" tall (from base to top of upright handle), 7 1/2" wide and 7 1/8" deep.

SOLD Unusual and original antique Japanese cast iron zen panel gong, or "umpan" meaning "cloud plate", usually hung outside of the kitchen area. Stylized decorations on the front include characters meaning both "sun" and "moon", a lucky bat, gourd medicine bottles, and lotus petals.
