SOLD Beautifully carved throne chair with a gorgeous deep reddish lacquer, with carvings of dragons and billowing winds into its back, dragon heads serving as the arms and front legs with painted glass eyes. The back of the chair features a large spiral leaf, smoke-like carvings along the top and sides, and a small lower panel with fleur de lys carving and a cloud border. Meiji period (1867-1912)

SOLD Beautiful keyaki wood kuruma tansu (wheeled tansu) from the Iwayadō region. Features iron hardware including a large lock on the top drawer in the shape of a hawk with engraved feathers, kushi-gata handles (comb shape), lock bar securing two middle drawers, lockbox style hinged door with an iron medal engraved with the Japanese god Daikoku, and many other beautiful features. Included are a set of iron keys. Edo period (1615-1867)

SOLD Japanese two-section Keyaki Nihonmatsu tansu with a black lacquered frame, a corner lockbox with iron plating and hinged door, four long drawers with iron hardware, warabite handles and iron locks at their center with a the image of a tsuru (crane) flying over a kame (turtle). The tsuru and kame are sacred creatures in Asian culture, each a symbol for longevity, and are said to live one thousand and ten thousand years respectively...

It has two large main drawers with large rectangular lockplates, the top incised with a crane and the bottom with the image of two turtles, referencing the old saying Tsuru Sen-nen, Kame Man-nen (as the crane lives one thousand years, the tortoise ten thousand years) to represent longevity...
