Japanese zenibako (money safe box) made with Keyaki (zelkova) burl wood in original red lacquer finish. The zenibako is fitted with brass hardware including side handles in a mokko (melon) motif. The hinged lid has a large front lock plate with matching key, and a calligraphy inscription on the underside. The interior of the zenibako holds two open compartments.

Antique Japanese tobacco ban (smoking box) with handle, made of hardwood with lovely grain, two small drawers, two small compartments on top with lids (one with a tiny bronze pomegranate), open square compartment for an ash bowl and a long compartment for pipes, Taisho Period. Size: 4 3/4" high x 9 1/2" wide (including handle) x 6 1/2" deep.

A minimalist square hibachi utilizing fine Keyaki wood and the edge and side holders are fitted with a special Kurogaki or persimmon wood frame. Kurogaki wood is highly valued in Japanese woodcraft often seen made into writing boxes and tea utensils. The hibachi comes with a wooden legged frame and a cover to be used as a side table.
