A porcelain bowl made by Mokusen of Kyoto decorated in blue with waterbirds taking flight from a reed-dotted shore followed by a four character verse by Oyabu Shunko enclosed in the original wooden box signed by both artists dating from the early 20th century. A very rare and fine Japanese Satsuma water dropper in the form of a Kyoto style saki pot. Delicately painted with figures and flowers, it is supported on three tiny feet and signed on bottom. In excellent condition, this treasure measures a mere 2 5/8 in diameter and about 1.25" high. Dates Meiji Period, 1868-1912.

A playful troupe of elephants parade around the rim of this early bowl by Shigemori Yoko enclosed in a signed wooden box titled Zobachi. The creatures are in relief, raised from the surface, not engraved into it. This was made by pressing the clay slab onto a surface into which were engraved the family of creatures. It is roughly 13cm 12.7 cm (over 5 inches) diameter, 6 cm (2-1/4 inches) tall and in excellent condition.

The “Three Friends of Winter” was a popular Japanese theme where pine, prunus and bamboo are grouped, said to represent perseverance, longevity and vitality, despite adversity. The raised and flared edges have repeating geometric patterns and bamboo plants are found in each corner. The plate rests on a round raised foot with blue designs on the undersides...

Wonderful Antique Japanese Imari two-piece flower arranger, Meiji Period c 1868-1912; the bowl with looped and reticulated border of interlocking rings, the interior decorated with blue, orange and beige fish and lilies, auspicious symbols of longevity and good fortune. The underside marked with a lucky symbol. The bowl is in good condition, some flaking on the perforated cover. No restoration or chips. The dish measures 12" diameter x 2 3/4" high.

Japanese studio porcelain Quail family. Three pieces include male, female and young. The male and female heavy (1.8 lbs and 1.29 lbs [814 g and 586 g] respectively) and of stout potting though with well defined details and clear glaze with very faint bluish celadon trace where the glaze pools - mostly between feathers around the birds' necks. These two are clearly of earlier, accomplished production though not marked...

We like to present you today an early Edo Period Karatsu Yaki Guinomi (Sake cup) with aesthetic silver repair (kintsugi) made around 1700.

The Guinomi has a hira-gata shape, refering to the Kamakura Period. Fantastic item!

A Bizen stoneware figural study of Daikokuten with attributes including full face, large earlobes, smile, hat, bag of rice and mallet. Impressed signature cartouche. Good condition. Height, about 7 1/2 inches (19.05 cm). Length about 8 inches (20.32 cm).

A healthy round-faced, plump figured, seated boy wearing a typical high hat of boy doll figures of the period. He is also wearing a checker-patterned loincloth. His hands are positioned under his chin, where he is holding his hat ties together. The stoneware was formed with a mold (you can see the faint molding line on both sides and underneath--it is not a crack.) The surface has a natural patina from age. Age: Late 19th Century...

Japanese 20th - 21st century floral design plate. The floral design starts at the bottom front of the plate and continues over the lip and up the inside of the plate, separated by black slip. Signed by artist on bottom. The plate comes with TOMOBAKO, original artist signed wooden storage box. The plate measures 10 3/4" in diameter and 3 3/16" tall.

This is the second tea bowl in our collection made by first class potter Kingyoku Nakata. It was made around 1980. A plum tree is hand-painted on the bowl. It is in mint condition with no chips or cracks.

It is well known that his works were brought by the Showa Emperor and the Prime Minister as hospitality gifts to a lot of European Presidents in 1983.

It comes with its originally signed and sealed wooden box.
