A porcelain dish from the Imari Kilns of Japan, that was made during the 19th Century. The dish is six sided with scalloped edges, has a center bouquet of vined flowers, and has border scenes of a flying dragon and temples. The plate measures about 13 1/2" in diameter x 2" high. The condition is very good with some wear to the design and on the gold covered rim. There are three very small edge frets that you can feel, but are too small to show in a picture...

It is very similar in shape, style and theme to the piece held by the Nihon Geijutsu-in published on page 143 of the book Kiyomizu Rokubei Rekidaiten (2004). An unusual long inverted pottery cone on a silver plated base by Kiyomizu Rokubei VI enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Gengama Senmon Kabin. It is 15 inches (38 cm) tall and in excellent condition. Rokubei began experimenting with these fluted froms in the 50s, and what he called “Gengama” glazes around 1960. My guess is that this piece dates circa the early 60s. I have never seen another example like this with a metal base.

An 18th Century Japanese porcelain scalloped serving bowl, with lid, decorated with the Imari colors of red, blue, white, cream, and gold. The tureen measures about 9 1/4" long x 6 1/2" wide x 7" tall. The Shippo design family crest has been applied in gold on the blue panels.
