Gold gleams on the dragon shaped prow of this boat shaped object in the style of Kyoto’s Ninsei ware. The house on top is meant to be filled with ash and serves as an incense burner. This is the second tea bowl in our collection made by first class potter Kingyoku Nakata. It was made around 1980. A plum tree is hand-painted on the bowl. It is in mint condition with no chips or cracks.

Three cups and saucer trays by Noritake, Japan, mid 50’s. Saucers shaped like water lily leaves – a modernist design also reminding of the painter’s palette shape so much in vogue in the 50’s in ceramics, jewelry, teak wood and more.
