Japanese early 20th century earthenware vase by SUIGETSU. The vase has 2 crabs done in high relief on the side. This type of ceramics was originated by artist Yoshikawa Tsunekata during the Meiji Period. The vase comes with TOMOBAKO, or original artist signed wooden storage box. The vase measures 6 1/4" tall by 8" in diameter.

A very unusual architectural shape by Takauchi Shugo covered in winnowing blue salt glaze enclosed in the original signed wooden box titled Shio-yu Mentori Tsubo. This artist does have a surprisingly wide range, and this piece certainly proves that. Adept at Shino, Oribe, Mashiko styles and others, he is a tough one to nail down and even more difficult to acquire, his pieces proving very popular at exhibition. A beautiful example of Oni Shino by world famous Tsukigata Nahiko enclosed in a wooden box signed by his student Ayukai Kogetsu. Wild glazing and a shinshoku fissure filled with glaze on one side define the work, showing reason for this artists great demand. A lidded Japanese Imari porcelain vase, finely painted with landscape cartouches and Ho-o birds among brocade pattern and peonies. With 19th century French bronze mountings, the pedestal composed of four nicely modelled elephant heads and heart shaped bordure, which is repeating on the rim ring.
