Three gods of fire which are unglazed earthenware made of clay. Fire has been thought as sacred and gods of fire have been put near furnaces, cooking stoves (kamado) and open fireplace (irori) for protecting from disasters and uncleanness. It is not clear where they are from, probably Tohoku district. All in good condition, no chip or crack.19th century. Height:20cm, Width:11 to 12cm

Pair of fine satzuma earthenware vases. The cream colored clay is covered with finely crackled glaze. A golden decoration representing pagodas in a mountainous landscape is placed on a matte black background. Some details are sprinkled to imitate morning mists. These are original vases inspired by Komai style vases in gold damask steel. Probably made in Kyoto during the Meiji or Taisho period. Good condition. Height: 125mm.

Large Meiji (1868-1912) Japanese Gosu Satsuma Vase with Kannon and Monk Marked "Dai Nihon Satsuma Yaki Gyokusen Ga"

It is 18 inches (45.7 cm) tall by 8.7 inches (22.2 cm) wide. It is 8.5 Lb.

It has rubbing of gold, minor stains, a chip at the foot, and surface wears and scratches (as seen in the photos).

This is a wonderful Meiji Era Satsuma tray from Seikozan. The detail is outstanding but the condition is even better. The condition of this piece is pristine and like new or the day it left the workshop. In fact, this piece is the finest preserved example of Meiji era Satsuma we have ever had. Ironically, we found a small factory repair to one of the corners. We ran tests and it is absolutely a gold covered Seikozan factory repair (See last image).

This beautiful processional Satsuma Jar or koro is a treasure from he Meiji era. It is signed by both Sozan and Kinkozan. This stoutly made jar is 4 1/2 inches tall and 5 inches wide. The mixed metal lid is a replacement from the Meiji era, that fits perfect and is possibly more attractive than the original. We also have the original lid. It was broken in half and glued back together. The replacement lid has a gold wash in between the raised flowers. The piece has virtually no wear to the gold...

Small Satsuma earthenware incense burner in the shape of a cricket cage. Technically complex openwork work with results that are still uncertain, the fine bars of the cage have survived the test of fire without damage, then that of handling for more than 100 years. Today the object is in excellent condition. Below the mark of the Satsuma and the name Hattori who was one of the best ceramic painters of his time., allowing a precise dating. We can, on request, find out who it is. Height 14cm.
