Bizen ware hexogonal vase with engravings of orchids on the side of the vase. The patina and color of the vase is very similar to those seen from the late Edo and early Meiji period. Interestingly, during this period elaborate decorations and moulding were created which was popular during this time. Japanese Ko Kutani ware ceramic bowl with classic enamel colors of green, yellow, purple and dark blue. The theme of the bowl is the 3 Friends of Winter or Shochikubai (plum blossom, bamboo, and pine tree) in colored enamel against a gray ground in the center. The recessed foot has 2 character mark Fuku, meaning "good fortune" or "happiness".

Finely detailed Satsuma jar with 4 male figures comprising 2 scenes. One scene depicts Shoki with a nobleman, the other a Samurai teacher with his student. An exceptional piece and what we were not able to capture in the photos is the depth and richness of the translucent glazes. Wood stand and lid were added later and are included. Measures on stand with lid 9.5". Jar alone measures 7.5" high x 6" diameter. Jar dates about 1875.

Antique Japanese painted ceramic figure of seated Daruma. Made from a mold and painted, this is an unusually expressive and detailed depiction of Bodhidharma, the monk founder of Zen Buddhism. He has his traditionally intense expression and, in this case, his robes are decorated with flowers. Daruma is a popular good luck symbol for prosperity and perseverance.

Age: Meiji Period (1868-1912)

This antique Iga vase is a true beauty, made of wonderful native Iga clay.

The vase was made between 1800 - 1850 during the later Edo Period and is in great antique condition. No chips or repairs. It comes with an old wooden box and an old cloth bag (which has a small torn part).

Iga ware's origins are believed to date to the second half of the 7th century and 8th century A.D...
