This is a highly detailed Japanese Satsuma vase from the great Meiji artist Shizan. Look close at the images because the fine detail is as good as most of the finer pieces and easily looked over. The vase stands 4 3/4 inches tall. The vase is in excellent condition. Price is firm.

Japanese early 20th century earthenware vase by SUIGETSU. The vase has 2 crabs done in high relief on the side. This type of ceramics was originated by artist Yoshikawa Tsunekata during the Meiji Period. The vase comes with TOMOBAKO, or original artist signed wooden storage box. The vase measures 6 1/4" tall by 8" in diameter.

Tall Japanese Sumida Gawa tankard with 6 mugs. All have the same potter's mark. Mugs measure 5" high, Tankard is 9.5" high. All are in very good condition except for a missing piece from the scroll on one mug, and broken thumb on another. Dates early 20th century.

This is a wonderful little censer from one of the great Meiji era satsuma artists. This beautiful piece glows with quality and is like looking at a fine jewel. Signed Shizan on the underside and the remains of an import sticker can still be seen. Condition is excellent. It measures 3 tall and is 3 1/4 wide.

Antique Japanese Bizen ware figure of Tanuki, he is dressed as a monk, a jar for drinking hangs from one arm, in the other hand he holds his ledger book. Very charming expression and lovely detail.

This is a very fine and unusual Japanese Satsuma vase with relief figures. The work on this piece is highly detailed and the gold thickly applied. The Dragon and clouds are decorated with silver. The piece is in very good condition will minor wear. The Artist signature is the most worn area on the piece. With magnification it can be seen that it is signed Fuzan but it is very hard to make out. I have included a similar Fuzan mark for comparison. The vase stands 8 1/2 inches tall.

Massive Japanese Meiji period Kyoto Satsuma earthenware deep scalloped rim bowl with 17 lobes densely painted on the interior and exterior with a profusion of gilt and enamel flowers. Four-character Kinkozan tsukuru mark with Shimazu crest to the base. Very heavily potted (weighs over 8 lbs.). Dates circa 1890 - 1910. 11 7/8” diameter by 7” high. Nicely carved wood stand included. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs...

This is a very fine pair of Japanese satsuma vases that stand just 4 1/4 inches tall. Attractive form, enamel colors and very fine details. They look like they have spent most of their lives stored in the box. One has the original sticker and both are signed. The signature looks a bit like the Kozan mark but we are not sure. Some of the larger flowers remind us of work seen on Bizan and Yabu pieces.

Important and rare bowl, large in size, scalloped in shape, with a small heel, from the Satsuma kilns. On a blue enamel background, the decoration represents cherry blossoms with a couple of peacocks among peonies inside. The whole is of a very good quality of gold and polychrome enamels. Very refined covered box in satsuma earthenware. The polychrome decoration of gold and colored enamels represents courtesans walking in a lake landscape. The gold powder border is decorated with stylized chrysanthemums. The interior presents butterflies finely made in polychrome. A signature drawn in gold lacquer, in a cartouche, by Kinkozan. This is a very nice Meiji vase from Meizan. It has excellent gold detail and enameling. It is even finished off at the inner top rim area with fine white enamel beads. The work rivals that from the Yabu Meizan factory and it is believed that some of the Meizan artists went on to work for Yabu Meizan. This beautiful 5 inch piece has slight wear to the gold but overall is in outstanding condition.

Antique Japanese ceramic chawan (tea bowl) by the famous artist Otagaki Rengetsu (1791-1875) with a cream crackle glaze and bare foot. The sides of the bowl are inscribed with poetic calligraphy. Includes its own tomobako. Size: 2.5" H x 6" W (entire box) 4.5" x 6.5" x 6.5"

The first image is how it appears under normal lighting. It probably does not have the original cover but this silver one is more functional than the ivory covers we have seen. Japanese Satsuma Phoenix Vase by Kinkozan V, an important and renowned Satsuma artist. It features stylized figures and flowers in under glaze red, yellow, green and blue on a rich black ground. This kind of design was very influential on Art Deco. 9 inches, 23 cm.

We offer a beautiful deformed and heavy Japanese Bizen stoneware tsubo. It has expressive signs and spoils of the pottery making.

The brown colour with a little descent of yellow and orange are giving a smooth warm radiance to the viewer.
