Black and white pair of unusual statues of protecting deity and ancestor. They are made of wood and date from the 18th. century. West Nepal.

They both bare signs of great age and eroded wood.

Beautiful antique Tibetan gilt bronze and copper repouse statue of the bodhisatva Avalokeieshvara, modeled with multiple heads protruding from the top of head, and countless arms in a circular nimbus edged with flames, holding prayer beads, a lotus, a conch shell and other attributes, beautifully modeled features, 19th century. Size: 18 1/2" high x 14" wide x 5" deep.

An Old group of Bodhi wooden prayer beds made from the wood of the Bodhi tree where Buddha received his enlightenment. These beads were purchased in Lhasa many years ago. Condition: No repairs. Size: 42 cm.

Tibetan Himalayan Monastery Red Polychrome Lacquered Trunk, Ca. 1900, with raised design of flying Dragon within scalloped cartouche on top of the Gesso and cloth backing on wood, borders are decorated low relief Chinese Character on Polychrome Gesso "Long Life", all original work and finish, 20" high, 35" wide 15" deep, wrapped with Brass around corners, hinges and lock compartment in front. Decorated with Buddhist symbols on the side and no decoration in the back...

Dhyangro drums are usually separated from their phurba (ritual dagger) handles, and the handles are sold by themselves. This is a common occurrence with Nepali dealers. This is because the handles are easier to transport and sell. So it isn't very often that you see a completely intact, old Tibetan ritual drum. The drum is made of wood and animal hide, and has shaking balls inside for accenting the rhythms created by the shaman dancer...

Vajradhara or Dorje Chang in Tibetan is the ultimate primordial Buddha or Adi Buddha according to the Gelug and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This fine example is from Tibet or possibly from Nepal. It is well proportioned and has very nice facial features. Please note the fine engraving on the back of the figure. It is in a very good condition with normal age wear, a nice patina and remains of polychrome. H. 23 cm. From a Dutch private collection.

A very rare and early example with its original polychrome and clear traces of long time use. Note the glossy patina on the back of the mask. Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. Both have large scrolling swirls carved above and below them. The backs have numerous holes for stringing. The bone is probably from a Yak. Period: 18th/19th Century. Size: 16cm & 17cm. W. Both 4cm. The front of the pouch is richly decorated with solid silver plaques that feature a foliage pattern and are studded with corals and turquoise. Salt box with its lid, of rectangular shape, decorated with incised geometric design on its sides, and geometric, partly in relief, design on its lid. An opening on the lid allows a spoon (now missing) to rest inside the box. Nepal, 19th century. Length: 18,7 cm. Height: 11 cm. Some erosion due to age, otherwise very good condition. Collected in Nepal in the early seventies.

Rare Tibetan antique skull drum called a damaru (or damru). Two skulls make up the two sided drum connected in the middle. Two small beads at the end of thin cords attached in the center beat the drum when it held upright and twisted. A long silk sash (chopen) decorated with two tassels and auspicious symbols hangs from the center. The damaru is a sacred instrument adopted from the Hindu tantric practices of ancient India...
